I Love These Products!

I love Shaklee products! And I use them every day. I think that you will love them, too!

Let me just start with the cleaning products.

Basic H2

The Basic H2 concentrate is especially awesome. It can be used for hundreds of things, or maybe thousands.

Two drops in 16 oz of water will make window cleaner at less than 1¢!

1/4 tsp. in 16 oz. water makes a great multipurpose cleaner for 5¢.

Mix 1 1/2 tsp. of Basic H2 in 16 oz. water for degreasing at 33¢.

You can get rid of the toxic cleaning stuff around your home and replace them with just a few non-toxic items made from sustainable ingredients from natural sources.

Biodegradable surfactants and recyclable packaging, wipes and dryer sheets are as good for the earth as they are for your home.

You probably hear lots of products advertised as non-toxic and effective.  Effective?  ‘Green’ products are not always.  But look at the pictures below for some testimony on how well Get Clean products work.

Chlorine bleach, toilet cleaners, oven cleaners, tub & shower cleaners, these things are designated as hazardous waste by the EPA.  Do you really want to use them in your home?

Do you think your cleaning products have to have a scent so you know you cleaned?  Add a couple drops of an essential oil.  There are lots of choices. No, I don’t sell essential oils.

You can use Basic H2 on kitchen appliances, counter tops, walls, sealed marble, sealed granite, stainless steel, sealed/painted wood, vinyl floors, metal, and chrome.

Although the labels on some of these say Basic H, they are really Basic H2.  Basic H is still available, but is not as concentrated, so you would have to purchase larger containers. I bet a lot of newer users don’t even know about Basic H, so don’t realize that 2 for squared makes a difference.  Dr. Shaklee introduced the original Basic H in 1960. There are some heavy duty users who get it in 30 gallon containers, but they are not just using it around the house.

Scour Off

What are you using now to get rid of stubborn water spots, rust, discoloration on porcelain, or that junk that builds up in your oven or toaster oven?

No toxic fumes, you don’t need to worry about wearing protective gloves or eyewear, and though I don’t recommend you eat it, Scour Off won’t kill you.

This is another concentrated product, and should be used with water or Basic H2 for best results.  It really does not do as well if you do not use with water!

You don’t have to wear rubber gloves.  This was an extreme mess.

Nature Bright

Although this is a non-bleach laundry product, lots of us use it around the house.

Then there are some cleaning projects you might want to both a stain remover such as Scour Off or Nature Bright and the Basic G germicide.

Toilet seat - scour off
By the way, Basic H2 makes water so wet it inactivates the germicide effect of Basic G, although it will still clean.  So, generally, it’s a waste to use them together.

Where should you start?

At a minimum, start with Basic H2, a 3 pack of spray bottles (with recipe right on them), Scour Off, Basic G if you want a germicide, and Nature Bright for that spot that just won’t come out.

If you’re ready to get rid of all the toxic cleaners in your home, you can make your choices from this list.  Currently, the membership fee is waived with the Get Clean Starter Kit, so it’s a good time to get started. You can join here: http://cleanwaytohealth.myshaklee.com/us/en/join.html#/join-member  (Don’t worry, there are no minimum order requirements for Shaklee members, and all the benefits of extra discounts.)  If you add 2 bottles of MindWorks (see http://kathyodowd.com/can-you-prevent-alzheimers-disease/) to your order, shipping will be free up to $9. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Check your local area for disposing of toxic products.

Many states, counties or municipalities have local programs.  For example:  http://www.epa.state.il.us/land/hazardous-waste/household-haz-waste/

Basic G

Being a germicide, Basic G isn’t truly non-toxic. Among Shaklee’s Get Clean and household line Basic-G is an anomaly. Basic-G is an older formulation and cannot be considered a “green” product due to the fact that it is a disinfectant. As disinfectants contain germicidal ingredients, they are not by definition readily biodegradable. Hence, we have never made claims that Basic-G is a readily biodegradable product. Moreover, as Basic-G is an EPA-registered product and subject to FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act) regulations, we cannot make the claim that it is biodegradable, nontoxic, natural, or safe. For these reason, Basic-G is not part of our Get Clean line.

As Basic-G is a “special use” highly concentrated product, the ingredient functionalities are much stronger than is the case with normal-strength cleaners. Basic-G is toxic in a concentrated state and fine to use when diluted according to label directions. We are required to include statements on our label describing our product as a Highly Concentrated Germicide, as well as alerting the consumer to the Danger if this product in misused. The Precautionary Statements on the back of the label deal at length with the Hazards to Humans and Domestic Animals, as well as emphasizing the Corrosive nature of our product. We recommend consumers read the information on the label thoroughly before using this product. Other EPA-registered disinfectants will require similar warnings as are found on the label of Basic-G.

I use Basic G for some non-Shaklee approved uses, such as a very diluted mixture for a pedicure, and I know people sometimes used a very diluted mixture on Athlete’s feet.  Shaklee does not endorse such uses.  Typical uses below.

  • wipe down counters after preparing raw poultry (rise well afterwards)
  • add to the washer to remove odors
  • wipe keyboard
  • wipe door knob
  • wipe light switch
  • wipe phone

Always Safe, Always Works, Always Green

Knowing the research, testing and history involved, I really trust Shaklee, feel safe using them, and am confident when recommending them to others.

So many of my friends and Shaklee family have provided great testimonials and tips on how to get the most out of these products; I wanted to share some of them with you.

Shaklee stands behind their products. Love them, or your money back! Did you know the average Shaklee customer has been using Shaklee products for almost 17 years?

I use Shaklee products, and love them, but I am also an Independent Shaklee Distributor.  If you purchase any products from my store, or links that lead to my store, I will get paid for purchases you make there.  Thank you for supporting my small business.  If you would like to find out how you can earn money with Shaklee, please let me know!
